Charles Phillips, The New Man at the Infor Helm

Movement of top executives between major companies in the IT Industry is common and in September 2010, the former president of Oracle, Charles Phillips takes on the leadership position at Georgia-based Infor Global Solutions, a mid-market software company considered the world’s 3rd largest ERP solutions provider.  He replaces Jim Schaper who is now Chairman of the Board at Infor and in Oracle; he was replaced by former HP CEO Mark Hurd.

Charles Phillips is perfect for the position as he brings with him more about 29 quarters of experience in Oracle as he played a key role in its successful acquisition of Siebel Systems, Hyperion and BEA systems, which more than tripled the company’s growth.  Infor is facing the same challenge with more than 70 small vendor acquisitions to reach revenues of $2 billion from 70,000 customers in 125 countries.  The timing is also great as Infor plans to release in next generation application in early 2011 with a closer strategic alignment with Microsoft systems in the areas of business intelligence, internet application suites, and identity management and collaboration software.

Before joining Oracle in 2003, Charles Phillips was the Managing Director for Morgan Stanley covering the IT sector.  He earned in MBA at Hampton University, a Juris doctor degree from New York Law School and his BS in Computer Science at the US Air Force Academy. He concurrently sits in the boards of Viacom, Inc, Morgan Stanley, The American Museum of Natural History, the New York Law School, and Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City.
